1) Tell them you write software.

2) Tell them you are a musician.

3) Tell them you are a musician who writes software.

4) If #2 or #3 don't fit your profile, just stick with reason #1.

* From my cubed perspective, it might as well be snowing in Seattle today.

i am always interested how people in different cities react when you mention you are a musician.....
as in:
I was lured to seattle for a gig(secret musician code word for "job") by a fellow minstral with his assurance that people there respect and even revere musicians. neither one of us live in seattle any longer.
if you say you're a musician......
...in nashville, people smirk and ask what restaurant you work at.
...in milwaukee, folks usually mention not seeing you at summerfest or "proud mary", or that they're related to sombody in the bodeans or some such.
...in austin, they get bug-eyed and exclaim:"wow....you too??" and then go off about what a great scene they have there.
...in minniapolis they just ask if you know prince.
...in chicago, they stare at you like you're speaking chinese...and go back to their goose island pale.

guess i shoulda gotten in to writing software.

My question has no relevance to the Yu Suk guy's, I like following what you choose to share with us. But my random question is:

When is the last time that you felt alive. Really alive. The kind or moment that really wakes you up. What triggered it?

ok, that was two questions, technically speaking. I'll have to think about how I would answer that question, too.

Writing about what I want to write about instead of just writing about it:

While waiting for life that sucks to die, why not listen to my favorite unsigned bands: TQ's Garage Band Playlist.
