Somewhat in honor of bjg's great debate, I give to you the "midnight train goin' anywhere (5.74 MB)." Yeah, I had Journey playing last night. It's such a comfort thing for me -- a return to my 5th grade crushes on how they were going to save me from the bitter world. The thing is --Journey's over; those days are gone. If you listen to them now you might as well feather your hair, stick a comb in your back pocket, and then get into your Camaro. Is it worth the ridicule? So, it's tough to comfort yourself with songs of nostalgia. Even in the privacy of my own apartment I felt the pitiable burden of how-it-was-said in Cinema Paradiso, "don't give in to nostalgia." Worse, I called my friend and told her that I was listening to Journey and then asked her how pathetic that was. Her response? "Who's Journey." Worst, even Journey themselves slapped me around with a bit of irony, and that's the ultimate humiliation:
Payin’ anything to roll the dice,
Just one more time

There is no shame in the Journey love. Sometimes it's a necessary thing. Also, you could write a really funny passage constructed only of Journey titles: I'll be allright without you...Any way you want it...be good to yourself... Monster ballads of the '80s are sometimes the only thing that can get you through. Posted by: Jen @ March 5, 2004 12:37 PMNo!!!!!!!!!!!! This is "y'all can't all be wrong." This is the end of the world whether you know it or not. This is it. There is no hope. Steve Perry is not Jesus. :-) Posted by: TQ @ March 5, 2004 12:55 PMI don't know. Steve Perry may actually be Jesus. Or at least a really good replica. I’ve been trying to make it home Except in that same song, Steve says, "Winter is here again oh Lord." So, unless Jesus prays to himself, Steve Perry can't be Jesus. And if Jesus prays to himself, I think we'd be more screwed than we already are.
