I'm not sure if it's my romanticism or my quest for aesthetic purity [and superiority ;-)] that makes me detest twist-tops on soda or beer bottles. There's no way you are going to go for the gusto without a bottle in one hand and an opener in the other. Plus, no man alive has ever not drank a beer for lack of an opener.

I don't want to drink a beer OR a soda badly enough to find an opener. If I could open bottles with my teeth, that would be reason enough to do so. I think it is primarily an aesthetic issue for me, tho I can see where it might also be a romanticistic one - a whole way of life is dying out, goddammit! Maybe it's wistful pining for an era when it was still possible to look cool with a cigarette hangin' outta yer mouth even if you're not Japanese, and ya hadda open beer with a bottle opener

Five -- someone might think that you are slandering Japanese with your comment and I know that's not truth... People open bottles with their teeth -- it's cool.

The rest of yous -- you can hear what Five is talking about in the 2nd comment if you browse here: JOTW.

Slander the Japanese? Hell, no!
All I meant was, was that they have inherited somehow the legacy of James Dean and Highway-61-era Dylan and made american decadence incorporate into a form of transcendant grace - not to make too much of a minor detail of 2 hours of one night's experience
